Tribal Customary Adoption (TCA) is a permanent plan option for juvenile matters where the Indian Child Welfare Act applies. TCA can be an ideal choice for a minor’s permanent plan as it protects the child’s connection to their tribal culture and relatives, even after the state court case has closed. This webinar discusses the required content to be included when drafting Tribal Customary Adoption Orders (TCAOs) and the process of working between state and tribal court jurisdictions.
This webinar is relevant to attorneys practicing juvenile dependency law, at the trial level or appellate stage, particularly attorneys that have or could have cases involving Indian children, parents, or tribes. This webinar also applies to Tribal Social Workers, Tribal Social Services Departments and their staff, as well as those who work with or within tribal courts. Kimberly Cluff is the Legal Director at CTFC where she leads a team of attorneys providing direct representation to tribes in state custody proceedings. Attendees that complete the course will be provided with a copy of the written materials before or during the training. The webinar is one hour.
This training is eligible for one hour of California participatory general MCLE credit for attorneys.
