This webinar is directly relevant to attorneys practicing juvenile dependency law, at the trial level or appellate stage, particularly attorneys that have or could have cases involving Native American children, parents, or tribes. The course will go over the Qualified Expert Witness (QEW) standard required by the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and how this legal standard is met. Further, this course will provide a detailed overview of the role of the QEW in an ICWA case. The instructors have significant professional and academic experience with dependency practice, ICWA compliance, common state court mistakes (and how to avoid them) with ICWA and best practice tools. Attendees will be provided with a copy of the written materials before or during the training. The webinar will be one hour, including introductions and questions/answers, with no breaks.

MCLE (Minimum Continuing Legal Education) credit is not being offered at this time for this training. We are in the process of securing accreditation and expect to offer MCLE credit in the near future. Please check back soon for updates. Thank you for your patience.
